Top 10 M&A deals between China and US in 2015

Deals between China and the United States, have gained momentum as the value of announced mergers and acquisitions (M&A) between the countries reached $4,883.9 million during the first eight months of this year, according to Thomson Reuters.

 

Overall Chinese M&A activity in the first half reached $305.3 billion, a 61.6 percent increase from the first half of 2014, the best semi-annual period on record.

 

Chinese companies were more active in purchasing quality assets in the US, especially in the private sector.

 

Here are the top 10 M&A deals involving Chinese companies.

 

No 10 SunEdison Inc, agreed to acquire wind power assets of Honiton Energy Caymans Ltd

Transaction value: $105 million

 

No 9 Tencent Holdings Ltd agreed to acquire a 19.48 percent stake in Glu Mobile Inc, a San Francisco-based developer of gaming software.

Transaction value: $126 million

 

No 8 Leyard Optoelectronic Co Ltd agreed to acquire the entire share capital of Planar Systems Inc, a Beaverton- based manufacturer and wholesaler of display and digital signage.

Transaction value: $149.7 million

 

No 7 Carlyle Group LP of the US and China Merchants China Direct Investments Ltd of Hong Kong, acquire a 25 percent stake in JIC Leasing Co Ltd, a Beijing-based medical equipment leasing service, a unit of China Jianyin Investment Ltd, owned by Central Huijin Investment Ltd.

Transaction value: $153.35 million

 

No 6 HC International Inc acquires the entire share capital of Orange Triangle Inc, a provider of internet portals services, from Navi-IT Ltd.

Transaction value: $ 240 million

 

No 5 Priceline Group Inc of the US agreed to acquire a minority stake in Ctrip.com International Ltd, a Shanghai-based internet service provider.

Transaction value: $250 million

 

No 4 Delta Air Lines Inc of the US agreed to acquire a 3.676 percent stake in China Eastern Airlines Corp Ltd, a Beijing-based passenger airline company.

Transaction value: $450 million

 

No 3 Silver Lake Management LLC agreed to acquire a minority stake in Qunar Cayman Islands Ltd, a Beijing-based travel agency.

Transaction value: $500 million

 

No 2 Johnson Controls Inc of the US agreed to acquire 60 percent of global air conditioner business Hitachi Appliances Inc in China.

Transaction value: $590 million

 

No 1 Dalian Wanda Group Co Ltd of China agrees to acquire the entire share capital of World Triathlon Corp, a Tampa-based provider of triathlon services, from Providence Equity Partners LLC.

Transaction value: $650 million
