As a supporting move to implement the Belt and Road initiative proposed by general secretary of the CPC Xi Jinping and the national strategic project “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor”, CICPMC organized Delegation of Chinese Multinational Corporations led by secretary general Song Weidong to visit Pakistan for field investigation and relevant project communication at the invitation of Chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Council and Mr. Khalid Malik, former administrator of UNDP and director of resident coordinator of the UN system in China on November 10-17, 2015. The delegation also attended the Roundtable held by National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) of Pakistan and the China-Pak CEO Roundtable held by the Bureau of Commerce of Punjab.

The delegation was met by President Mamnoon Hussain and Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Pakistani presidential office on Nov. 11th, and the two sides held cordial talks. Secretary General Song Weidong introduced our council’s history, current situation and functions, our role in and contribution to promoting the overseas development of multinational corporations and the intentions of enterprises in the delegation to invest in Pakistan. He also expressed the hope that enterprises would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in transportation, energy, trade and investment under the deployment of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor so as to promote common development.

President Hussain noted that, China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations was a high level international organization and the event was a witness to China-Pakistan friendship and a concrete move to implement the Belt and Road initiative and the building of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Pakistani side would fully support the event and warmly welcome Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Pakistan. President Hussain said with a cheerful mood that with China’s two-child policy, more good brothers and friends would come to Pakistan and our friendship would last for generations.

On Nov. 11th, Chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Council accompanied the delegation to visit Chairman of Pakistani Senate Rabbani, Pakistani Ministry of Industry and Production, Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Water and Power, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with five ministers and director of Department of Asia Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of Pakistani industrial and agricultural production, state-owned assets management, investment policies, foreign trade, infrastructure building and development of telecommunications, laying a foundation for promoting multinational corporations' investment in Pakistan in the future.

NUSY Roundtable
The delegation attended the Roundtable held by NUST in Istanbul on Nov. 15th. Secretary General Song Weidong delivered a speech during the conference and introduced the delegation, which were among world top 500, China top 500 and leading enterprises of various industries in China including construction, international trade, financial investment, health care and culture.

The delegation attended China-Pakistan CEO Roundtable held by Bureau of Commerce of Punjab in Lahore and Secretary General Song Weidong delivered a speech. The Delegation of Chinese Multinational Corporations’ visit to Pakistan aimed at consolidating the building of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, searching for opportunities for enterprises of the two countries and promoting economic and trade development of China and Pakistan.
