Mr. Chairman Zheng Wantong, Mr. Li Yizhong, distinguished excellencies,

Good afternoon!

For the University for Peace and for me, it’s a great honor to participate in this meeting where we share the values and the commitment with the education and try to help through education to business and peace with a specific agreement with the CICMPC. The world is currently undergoing in a moment of great uncertainty. This is a milestone in our history development. The concept of time and space has changed and it’s necessary to think about the territory and also the planet in a global way. Communication is instantaneous. This generates a global interdependence between nations and society as well as the people. Innovation, biotechnology, and IT revolution have paved the way for different future. We are witnesses of the great advance. 

Millions of people have emerged from the poverty. However, we also perceive great risk, uncertainty, and climate change affects all the humanities. Violence and war alongside pandemics affect millions of human beings in different regions of the world. The lack of respect of human rights affects largest areas in different ways. Today, we can add to these dependencies toward isolation and protectionism.

The United Nations has achieved indispensable consensus around two aspects that define the human progress, the Paris Agreement and the Agenda for Sustainable Development. Furthermore, United Nations has taken important decisions regarding international peace and security as well as a resolution to better protect the right of the people, those enabling them to access the largest international and national public good. 

The 2013 agenda for sustainable development approved by the United Nations General Assembly is a universal action plan that places the people and the planet in the center of all actions. In addition to promoting prosperity, the seventeen largest objectives set forth by these universal programs being with one basic objective eradicating the poverty and more specifically, the hunger. Issues of these seventeen objectives are interrelated and interdependent. Goal seventeen will enable to construct solid institution framework that allows for a better success of justice and peace. All of them will allow for the creation of a more peaceful fair and inclusive society, free from fear and violence. The agenda twenty thirteen is a strategic program for global prosperity. Only an international partnership involved states. International agencies, enterprises, civil society organizations will enable increase the global solidarity on basis to respect the right of each and every person.

Essential for meeting for these lofty goals, the final objective and it transforms the world in one of the peace progress prosperity for all. The People's Republic of China has proposed a global strategic, with the “One Belt One Road” project. This strategy seeks to recover the spirit of the Silk Road. That is to recreate the ancient progress of the road which enables cultural exchange and civilization in the great Eurasia during the drought of the humanity. This strategy is based on peace and cooperation with a new and better East-West connectivity. It seeks openness and inclusion by incorporating progress through cooperation in different region. The strategy also aims to seek mutual learning and mutual benefit with development proposed for the 21st century. Interaction and interdependence promote development and within it, peace. The decrease of the possibility of armed conflict and openness for fair collaboration in turn allows the progress. Without development, there is no peace. Without peace, there can be no exercise any rights in contact of absent of peace, all the rights are violated. 

“One Belt One Road” is a road open to the participation of all those who promote the values of peace and represent specific instrument for peaceful development of the world. The principles that guide it are those of the United Nations. Interdependence promotes economic development and business enables new opportunities for employment, innovation exchange between people. They create a new culture that requires a mutual learning. In search of global confidence, for respect for living and the right of the people allows consolidating a fundamental concept surrounding prosperity, peace, and harmony. 

The new Silk Road and the 2013 agenda for sustainable development allow for transformation of the world. They are converging paths toward peace, toward advances in global governance, towards promoting development on the basis of cooperation, towards the search of inclusion and promise of win-win. The two strategies complement each other and refer to a new type of multilateralism and the construction of a global consensus. They are long-term strategies that simultaneously allow the detection of immediate result, the advance made in terms of infrastructure, global trade, and connectivity for development which is another name of the peace.

Promoting cultural exchange demands better mutual understanding and in that, education plays a fundamental role. Progress and advancing in the compliance of the goal proposed in those strategies demand more and better education. I would like to reaffirm our commitment and association with CICPMC in order to develop important programs on business administration and their link with the peace as well as all their master degrees programs. The cooperation with the People’s Republic of China in these will be crucial to prepare new leadership for peace and development and business for peace. Congratulation and success on the occasion of the 9th International Roundtable of Multinational Cooperation Leadership— Forum on the “One Belt One Road” Cooperation and Development. The success of this forum predicts important result for progress and prosperity. If we want peace, work for the peace.
