The University for Peace (UPEACE) is the only university mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to award academic degrees and UN Secretary General serves as Honorary President of the Council of UPEACE. The university offers master's programs in Environment and Development, Peace and Conflict Studies and International Law. It also offers doctoral and dual-degree programs, and established a Center for Executive Management. UPEACE has cooperative relationships with many universities and institutions around the world including Berkeley University, American University, Brandeis University, Oregon State University, University of Sydney in Australia, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, International University of Monaco, the Hague University of Applied Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University, UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and so on.

 

Mr. Zheng Wantong, Vice-Chairman of the 11th National Committee of CPPCC and President of CICPMC met with Dr. Francisco Rojas, Rector of the UPEACE and Mr. Juan Carlos Sainz-Borgo, Dean for International Cooperation of the UPEACE in Beijing on October 8.

 

President Zheng first expressed his greetings to the Rector and the Dean, and the Rector then introduced the history, major subjects and international cooperation of UPEACE.

President Zheng spoke highly of the work of UPEACE in teaching and talent cultivation, and gave a brief introduction of CICPMC. He said, CICPMC has maintained a long-term friendly relationship with UN since its establishment. The International Roundtable of Multinational Corporations’ Leaders, which is co-sponsored by CICPMC and five UN agencies (including UN Development Programme, UN Conference on Trade and Development, UN Industrial Development Organization, UN Environmental Programme, and UN Global Compact) , has been held for eight editions, contributing a lot to strengthening international communication and promoting cooperation between multinational Corporations.

 

President Zheng also expressed that the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between UPEACE and CICPMC is of great significance to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote sustainable development of the related fields.

Mr. Wang Hao, District Mayor of Chaoyang District of Beijing meets with Dr. Francisco Rojas, Rector of the UPEACE

During his visit, the Rector had a meeting with Mr. Wang Hao, District Mayor of Chaoyang District of Beijing under the arrangement of CICPMC and learned much information related to education and investment environment of Chaoyang District. They talked about the possibility of implementing some projects in Chaoyang District. Leaders from the General Office, Foreign Affairs Office, Commission of Commerce, Education Commission of Chaoyang District Government, Chaoyang Branch of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, and Chaoyang Branch of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Urban Planning also attended the meeting.

UPEACE Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with CICPMC

Mr. Zhang Xiaoyu, Executive Vice President of CICPMC and Dr. Francisco Rojas, Rector of the UPEACE had an in-depth, concrete and candid communication about establishing cooperation between the two institutions in the educational fields. The two sides ultimately signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement to co-develop projects such as offering MBA and EMBA programs and setting up the “UPEACE Asia Center”.
